Raintree earrings by Catgoyle Raintree earrings by Catgoyle
Second experiment with making earrings from wire "ribbons" in sea green and purple. This work was inspired by this pendant [link] by *magpie-poet.

This pair is a gift for a dear friend of mine in CA, who needs a bit of cheering up. Hope you'll like them, Tiggie!

Oh, those are really nice colors! Good point with next step to say the hell with the stone and go for it :D

I was looking at ordering wire tonight, and damn if even in coated wire it adds up quickly. *sigh* But I found out parawire makes half round, which I think would be really helpful in the whole keeping the wires bound. And they have glow in the dark wire, can't begin to say how much I covet that!

Heh... wasn't so much "to hell with the stone!" as "Let's try it without a stone first, to practice the bending first." And the first one (the Easter one) did turn out rather nice, if a bit overly simple. Both this and that other one netted a fair number of compliments at work when I showed them off, which is always flattering!

The colors were her choice from what I had on hand.

Oh! And now you've gone and done it, showing me a site that caters to (some) of my hankering for wire...! (grins) Where else do you like to shop for wire? I like that Parawire site you introduced me to.

I mostly get wire from rio grande, though since they won't make 24ga deadsoft square silver I have to order that at much high prices from firemountain. I tried monsterslayer, you could give them a shot. I had poor luck with the wire I ordered from them being much slimmer than standard and their customer service is nonexistant. If you are interested in beads as well, you can get some parawire through elephanteyebeads.com. They're a redistributor, so their prices are higher, but they have smaller amounts, and free shipping. I'm still doing the extended math on if I ought to buy some from them instead. But they don't have the glow or the half round, so I'll have to get at least some direct.

(bows) The colors were her choice from what I had on hand, and she really likes the look of them in the photo. I suppose she'll like them even more once she can wear them!
